Visual Puns/Dictionary Gimp Assignment

For the Dictionary Assignment I chose to do the word scaevity, which means unluckiness and put a picture of a black cat, a broken mirror and spilt salt to convey the term.  I learned that you have to be very careful when you select something to move of cut it from a picture because if you don't the picture looks fake.  I also had fun picking the word I used from savethewords.org.

eye-pod

Watch Dog

Butter Flies
For the visual puns I combined a picture of a pea pod and an eye to create and ipod, a dog and to clocks to make a watch dog and a plane and a stick of butter to make butter flies.  For this assignment we had to think hard of what to do and try not to do what someone else did.  I also learned that you have to be careful with erasing and using many layers is a good idea.

Still Life

Technical Info:
Shutter: 1/3
Aperture: f9
ISO: 800

For this assignment I shot for still life.  For my favorite picture I went up to my room and saw these two necklaces and I liked the shape and shadows they created against my wall.  This week I had to set up most of the pictures that I took, but this one was just how it on my wall.  I had problems getting the camera to focus so I would switch it back to manual mode to take the pictures.  My room is also very dark so I had to turn the ISO up fairly high

For this assignment we did panning.  We went to the commons and Mr. Bush rode his bike across the hall and we took pictures. I learned that you have to make sure you see your subject on the screen before you take the picture and timing is everything.

For this assignment I chose to do light painting.  I learned that it takes a long time to set up and you have to be careful with a tripod and it takes a lot of planning to get a good picture.  My mom lost the tripod and I ended up having to strap the camera to the tripod with extra straps for a different camera.

Car Gimp Assignment

We began working with gimp to fix our photos today by working on a picture of a car.  I learned that levels work really well to improve pictures very quickly and the clone tool will get rid of any thing you want to get rid of in the photo

Animal Assignment

For this assignment I decided to shoot pictures of my cats.  I choose this because my cats had gotten some fresh catnip and were acting crazy.  I learned that you have to be really fast to catch the photo that you want because they are going to move as soon as they catch the camera looking at them.
